Domain Name, Hosting and Email
Once your website is built it needs its own place on the internet to stay. This is where domain names and hosting come in.
One years free domain registration (.org.uk/.co.uk)
A domain name, also known as a web addess, is what visitors type in or click on to view your site, e.g. www.yourwebsite.co.uk You can choose what domain you would like (subject to availability) and we will registered it for you.
Our websites include one years free registration of either a co.uk or .org.uk address. We can also arrange registration for other domains such as .com, .net and .info although there is a small charge for this.
For renewal costs see the section on Annual Renewal.
One years free hosting
A domain name is an easy to remember address identifying the location where your website is stored, so people can find it to visit. Hosting is the actual place the files are stored, your own section of a very big hard disk.
The hosting we offer comes with:
- 500MB bandwidth/month
- 20MB Web Space
When you visit a page on the internet the files, including the page itself and any images, are downloaded by your internet browser for you to view. The term bandwidth refers to how much data is downloaded. For example, the files on this webpage come to under 100KB. Visitors loading it 10 times would use 1MB of bandwidth, it would take 5000 visitors loading it each month to use up the 500MB of bandwidth we provide. Page sizes vary but we find for most sites this is adequate if you need extra we can provide it for a small fee.
There are no banners/popup ads placed on your site with our hosting.
For renewal costs see the section on Annual Renewal.
Included with your website are email facilities. This will provide you will a personalised email address to match your web address e.g. info@yourwebsite.co.uk.
You can recieve your email in a variety of different ways. It can be forwarded to your current email address, you can view in online through our webmail facilities or you can download it to your computer using a program such as Microsoft Outlook.
